Highlights from Grow Together: Farmer Connect in O'Neill

Check out highlights from our recent Grow Together: Farmer Connect event in O'Neill, hosted by Abby and Simeon Mosel!

Farmers, food advocates, and community members came together during the holiday season to share coffee and dive into lively discussions about organic practices and innovative farming solutions. This gathering was a fantastic opportunity to connect and collaborate on ways to grow together as a sustainable agricultural community.

Topics Included:

Minerals for Soil and Livestock: Exploring the role of minerals in improving soil health and reducing disease in livestock herds through well-designed mineral programs.

Direct Marketing: Strategies for online sales and shipping, on-farm sales, drop points, and thriving at farmers' markets.

Social Media Usage: Sharing tips for effectively engaging audiences and promoting farm products online.

Composting: Turning organic waste into a valuable resource to enrich soil and reduce farm waste.

Cover Crops and Forage Crops: Planning rotations carefully, with thoughtful crop selection to achieve specific soil health goals.

Grazing Practices: Techniques like mob grazing, rotational grazing, and multi-species grazing to optimize pasture use and improve livestock health.

NSAS is proud to facilitate these essential conversations, which strengthen our collective commitment to organic and sustainable farming.

A heartfelt thank you to Abby and Simeon Mosel for hosting and to everyone who attended, contributing their insights and energy. Another special thanks to Teal and her fabulous homemade pies! Together, we’re building a brighter, more connected farming community.

Here’s to a productive 2025! Happy New Year!
